County Fire Fighter Rescues Puppy During House Blaze in Near Edgewater

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department this week shared an inspiring account that demonstrates the bravery and compassion exhibited by first responders.

On March 4, 2025, firefighters responded to a residential fire on Revell Road in Southern Anne Arundel County. While engaged in the task of extinguishing the blaze, they received concerning information regarding a small dog that might still be within the premises.

During the course of the firefighting operations, Firefighter Buranen detected a faint and unusual sound. This prompted a recollection of the earlier radio communication concerning a possible pet inside the residence. Despite the difficult circumstances presented by the active fire overhead and pervasive smoke, Firefighter Buranen successfully located "Buster," a small dog who had sought refuge beneath a window against a wall.

Without delay, Firefighter Buranen rescued Buster and returned him safely to his appreciative owner. Although Buster had sustained minor burns to his fur, I am pleased to report that he has since made a complete recovery.

In a heartwarming development, Buster paid a visit to our Harwood-Lothian Fire Station last week to meet and personally express his gratitude to the firefighters who saved him.

"This encounter proved to be a deeply moving experience for all present,* Fire Department officials said. "This particular event serves as a poignant illustration of the unwavering dedication and care that our firefighters extend to every member of our community, including our cherished animal companions."
