An elderly man was killed and a firefighter was injured during a home fire in Pasadena

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department said that on March 1, 2024, at 3:15am, first responders were summoned to a home in the 500 block of Kintop Lane.  "Fire Crews were dispatched and arrived on the scene less than seven minutes after the original call to 911," fire officials said in a statement.  "Fire crews on the scene reported the residence was fully involved with fire and that there was one victim trapped inside the residence," a press release stated. "Crews worked collectively to extinguish the fire while simultaneously rescuing the trapped adult male."

Officials said Mr. Chen Fa Lu, 72, died as a result of his injuries from the fire. Additionally, one fire lieutenant was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor burns as a result of the incident. "Anne Arundel County Fire Investigators have determined the cause of the fire to be accidental. The fire started in the basement of the home due to a faulty electric issue," the department said.
