Community Rallies Behind Family of Odenton Man, 21, Killed in Fatal Crash on Waugh Chapel Road

A close-knit community is rallying behind the family of an Odenton man who police say was killed in a tragic car accident near Waugh Chapel Road.

On May 5, 2023, at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of Waugh Chapel Road near Haymeadow Court for a report of a single-vehicle crash. "The investigation revealed a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling westbound on Waugh Chapel Road approaching Haymeadow Court when, for yet to be determined reasons, the vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck several trees," Anne Arundel County Police said.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Collin Anthony Acklin, 21, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Our community has been rocked by the loss of one of our own.  The Acklin Family has been through so much over the last 30 days, when their wife and mother passed away from her battle with cancer," the Arundel Athletic Boosters said.  "He was a student of Four Seasons Elementary, Arundel Middle and a graduate of Arundel High Class of 2020. Collin was an amazing person and will be truly missed by his family and friends."

A Meal Train and GoFundMe has been created in benefit of the Acklin Family:
